Getting Involved with Plastic Bottle Recycling

from:

Most people think of an activist as a sign wielding fanatic that ends up on the evening news to the embarrassment of family and friends. It doesn’t always have to be that way though. You can make an impression in important ways if you like. Let’s take the environmental and recycling causes for example. Of course, it seems like everyone is on this bandwagon these days, but that is a good thing. The best approach to take in the beginning is a simple one. Plastic bottle recycling is a good way to get started and there are so many ways that you can make a difference with this approach. To get you going, here are a few ways you can get others interested and involved with plastic bottle recycling.

The one place you can start plastic bottle recycling without fear of rejection is at home. You know how it goes, your place your rules. Depending on your preferences and where you live, you can choose to have your plastic recyclables collected by a recycling company or drop your items off to the recycling plant yourself. It might take some time to get in the habit of saving your plastic bottles, but before you know it, you’ll be on your way to the center with tons of plastic that will live to see another day as a new plastic product.

Once you have the plastic bottle recycling under control at home, your next battleground can be found at work. Of course, you could be one of those lucky people who already work for a company that puts recycling of all kinds high on its list of priorities. If not, it’s time to do some research and approach whoever makes that kind of decision with all of your facts straight. Be sure to include information about the price of and where to get the proper recycling receptacles as well as how collection will work. It will be helpful if you or another employee is willing to head up the project. The less work for the boss, the more likely you are to get the green light.

When you break it down to just recycling plastic bottles, it might not seem like you can really make that much difference. Think about the number of plastic bottles you see in garbage cans and on the ground. Those bottles will never biodegrade. By getting even a few to the recycling center, you are making a huge difference in your local environment and on the global front. And all it takes is a little time.
